…It’s not just Canadian corporations that stand to benefit from the weak dollar.
Sal Galatioto, a leading sports investment banker, said the stronger “loonie” is very beneficial to Canadian sports franchises, including baseball’s Blue Jays,basketball’s Raptors and the six National Hockey League clubs north of the border.
“The standard player contracts are all in U.S. dollars, but all their revenues have been in Canadian dollars,” Galatioto said. “With the revenues now up 25 percent, it’s easier for them to sign free agents, easier to compete, easier for everything.”…
